Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how WaterHalo handles information when you use water scanning, maps, Saved Places, Safety Profiles, Water First, and related features.

Effective date: October 6, 2026
Privacy-focused by design WaterHalo does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, does not request an advertising identifier, and does not use your information for cross-app tracking.
1. Scope

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to WaterHalo, a mobile application provided by KinFour Innovations, LLC. WaterHalo is designed to help users become more aware of known mapped water near a current location or a selected destination and to organize optional water-safety information.

WaterHalo is an informational and preparedness tool. It is not a medical device, does not determine whether water is safe for swimming or other activities, and does not replace emergency services, lifeguards, posted warnings, local authorities, or professional safety guidance.

2. Information WaterHalo uses

Information depends on the features you choose

Location

When you choose a current-location scan, WaterHalo may access precise or approximate device location to determine the area to scan for known mapped water.

Destination searches

When you search for a destination, WaterHalo processes the place or geographic area you selected so it can show mapping context and request nearby water information.

Saved Places

You may save places, scan settings, and related water-scan information for future reference. WaterHalo stores this app data locally on your device.

Safety Profiles

You may enter names, photos, emergency contacts, notes, preferences, and other practical safety details. Safety Profile information is stored locally on your device unless you explicitly choose to share it.

User-added water

You may add private water locations or notes for your own reference. This information is stored locally on your device unless you intentionally share information using a system sharing feature.

App settings and purchase state

WaterHalo may store settings and entitlement state locally so the app can remember your preferences and purchased access.

3. Location and water scans

Location is used to provide water-discovery features

WaterHalo requests location only when needed for a feature you choose, such as scanning around your current location. Normal scanning does not require continuous background location tracking.

To complete a water scan, WaterHalo may transmit the scan-center latitude and longitude, selected radius, or equivalent geographic query information to mapping or public water-data services. Depending on your iOS location setting, this may be precise or approximate location.

App Store privacy disclosure WaterHalo discloses Precise Location and Coarse Location for App Functionality. WaterHalo does not use this location information for advertising or tracking.
4. Local data and Safety Profiles

User-created profile and place information stays on your device

WaterHalo uses local device storage for user-created information such as Safety Profiles, profile photos, emergency contacts, Saved Places, private water hazards or locations, saved scan snapshots, and app preferences.

WaterHalo does not upload this user-created profile or place information to a KinFour Innovations server as part of normal app operation.

If you choose to share a Safety Profile or other information, WaterHalo creates the shared content on your device and uses Apple's system share sheet. The destination you choose may receive the information you intentionally share.

5. Photos

Photos are optional

If you choose to add a Safety Profile photo, WaterHalo uses Apple's photo-selection interface to let you select an image. The selected profile photo is stored locally with the Safety Profile and is not uploaded to a WaterHalo server during normal use.

6. Mapping and third-party services

WaterHalo relies on mapping and public water-data providers

WaterHalo may use Apple Maps and public water-data services to provide mapping, place search, and water-discovery functionality. Depending on feature availability, providers may include Apple Maps, the United States Geological Survey (USGS), and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service / National Wetlands Inventory (USFWS/NWI) services.

When WaterHalo contacts an external water-data provider, the provider may receive the geographic query necessary to service the request and normal network metadata such as an IP address. Independent providers may process or retain request information according to their own privacy policies and operational practices.

WaterHalo does not use these services to build advertising profiles or track you across other companies' apps or websites.

7. Analytics, advertising, and tracking

No third-party advertising or analytics SDKs

WaterHalo does not currently include third-party advertising, attribution, analytics, or crash-reporting SDKs. WaterHalo does not request the device advertising identifier and does not use your information for cross-app tracking.

Apple may independently provide platform-level App Store or device services under Apple's own privacy practices.

8. Purchases

App Store purchases are processed by Apple

Purchases are processed through Apple's App Store and StoreKit. KinFour Innovations, LLC does not receive your complete payment card or bank-account information. WaterHalo receives the StoreKit product and entitlement information needed to provide purchased access.

9. Retention and deletion

You control locally stored WaterHalo data

Saved Places, Safety Profiles, profile photos, emergency contacts, private water information, scan snapshots, and app preferences may remain on your device until you edit or delete them or remove the app.

WaterHalo may keep temporary water-scan cache data on the device to improve responsiveness and reliability. Cached data may expire or be replaced during normal app use.

External mapping or water-data providers may retain network request information according to their own policies.

10. Your choices

You control optional permissions and local information

  • You may allow or deny location access through iOS Settings.
  • You may use destination-based features without granting current-location access where the feature allows it.
  • You may choose whether to add a profile photo or other optional Safety Profile information.
  • You may edit or delete Safety Profiles, emergency contacts, Saved Places, and other locally stored WaterHalo information.
  • You may choose whether to share information using Apple's system share sheet.
  • You may delete the WaterHalo app to remove app data stored in the app's local container, subject to iOS backup and device behavior.
11. Children's privacy

WaterHalo does not provide advertising or public social features

WaterHalo does not provide public social networking, public user-generated content distribution, or third-party advertising. A parent, guardian, or caregiver may choose to enter Safety Profile information about another person, including a minor, for local organizational and safety purposes.

If you believe information has been shared with KinFour Innovations, LLC in error, contact us using the information below.

12. Security

We work to limit unnecessary data handling

WaterHalo is designed so that user-created Safety Profile and Saved Place information remains local during normal use. No electronic system, device, storage method, or network transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy

We may revise this policy as WaterHalo changes or as legal, regulatory, or technical requirements evolve. When we do, we will update the effective date shown at the top of this page.
